ENERGY CODE IS NOW MORE STRINGENTšŸ

Rhode Island is adopting the 2024 International Energy Conservation Code and is the first state in the country to do so. The existing code is from 2018, so this is a substantial upgrade from the old code.

The code upgrades include higher insulation values for the walls and ceiling; additional testing for building tightness; and electric readiness provisions for EVs.

Ā

There are also tax credits available from the Inflation Reduction Act for insulating your home, adding solar panels and installing an electric heat pump (Mini split) for heating and cooling.

Ā

Calyx is a participating Weatherization Contractor for the Utilities in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts. The cost for this work is something you are already paying for through the Energy Conservation charges on your utility bills. The cost of the work is heavily subsidized, sometimes as much as 100% for qualifying households. The audit (inspection) is free and is scheduled at your convenience. Our average weatherization project is about $3,800 and this work takes a one to two days to complete. The cost to the consumer is as low as $-0- in some cases.

Ā

Energy Costs for Electricity, Oil and Gas have risen as much as 15-30% over the last period.Ā  The costs of energy do not stop in the summertime. Air conditioning on the hot days consumes a lot of electricity and the insulation helps to stop wasting this valuable cold air!!

Ā

Calyx is licensed by the States of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, and we are certified by the Building Performance Institute. We have Crew Chiefs and Team Members dedicated to tightening up the insulation in your home. We insulate about 500 homes a year, so your friends, family and neighbors have found this to be a sound investment.

Ā

This program is available to everyone. We do work in million-dollar homes, low-income single family and triple decker homes, condos, apartments and now commercial spaces and offices for Lawyers, CPAs and Doctors in converted single family homes.
